A wonderful place to volunteer and give back to the community! My kids and I love going to be with our friends while we put together meal bags, pet supplies, hurricane preparedness boxes, or whatever else is needed to help our elderly community.
I had a great time here volunteering! Robin and her staff were amazing! It’s definitely a great feeling to give back!
Mrs. Diana does extremely well with returning my calls and answers all of my questions even if I’ve already asked her before. She is very professional and patient with me and my mom. We appreciate everything Diana and meals on wheels does for us and the community!
I have ridden with several really awesome drivers. I ride with Kim the most and shes great. Shes always very professional and courteous. She gets me to my appts safely & on time.
EDIT: Notice in their response how they did not address the discrimination issue. No name listed to speak to, no number to call. I have already contacted the government about pulling their grant for under 65 disabled people after what that young woman said to me. I signed up for transportation because I am disabled, have no car and family does not live near by. I took a couple of rides which were pleasant. Then,, one day it was sprung on me after I boarded the bus and was away from my home that I would be forced to stay and wait for the bus at WalMart for 2 AND A HALF HOURS because a certain rider had "her WalMart day." First of all I had no idea that Meals On Wheels Transportation catered to only certain people and made others wait and unbearable time. I was just going to pick up a prescription and return 1 item. Why on earth would anyone not have a life and want to stay in WalMart for 2 and a half hours is beyond me. Worse, they want to force others to stay there and wait for that 1 person to get done. I am on a heart medication and if I don't take it on time I could end up in the hospital or worse. No one told me in advance so I could make the decision to go or reschedule. I would have definitely rescheduled. I was very upset. It was very cold that day and I had not worn thick clothing. I sat outside to pass the time, but could not handle the cold. I reluctantly had to call an Uber which I could barely get into due to my knee and back. Since when do non-profits decide to cater to ome person over another? Maybe the government (DOT) should be contacted and told what they are doing to disabled people. The young lady who answers the phone was very nasty with me about the whole situation saying. "This is why we don't like to accept applications from people who are disabled under 65." I was shocked, appalled and felt discriminated against due to my disability. I could tell the girl doesn't like me because I spoke out about it. I tried calling 3 times this week leaving a message each time and the girl never called me back to schedule. Today she finally picked up and told me in no uncertain terms they would NOT take me to the other WalMart on my side of 45 to get my medication and I would have to go the whole opposite way. When I said ok, she then told me they were booked for 2 straight weeks solid and could not give me a ride anyway. This is blatant discrimination against a disabled person. I will be contacting an attorney and Department of Transportation and maybe they can reduce that 120,000 grant and put it where disabled people can actually use it. If you're getting funded to help disabled and not helping disabled, you don't need that money. I will be calling them tomorrow along with news channels.
