This local author/artist highly recommends the MCWC! Everyone in the legal department at the MCWC who helped me file a Protective Order against my longtime husband was kind, supportive, knowledgeable, efficient and trustworthy! I am happy to say that my temporary Protective Order is now in effect until my hearing before the MC family court judge in less than 2 weeks for a permanent Protective Order! I would highly recommend that other Montgomery County, TX domestic violence survivors like me take an early opportunity to seek out help at the MCWC much sooner than I did! The gentle spirits at the MCWC are much more supportive and helpful than my own parents/family--a testament to the bounty of opportunities for freedom which exist locally for we abused women! Take this opportunity to end your domestic violence ordeal/get a leg up on your future happiness! I will continue to work with the MCWC legal department in the near future with full confidence in their abilities! MCWC is a wonderful, professional, life-affirming, emotionally-supportive place to end your domestic violence suffering forever! 🫶❤️🫶❤️🫶❤️🫶❤️🫶❤️🫶❤️🫶

Fortunately this facility exists, Good location, nice apartment style buildings. Mancuso's supported the annual Toy ride to the Woman Center with much needed gifts for kids. Thanks to all who participated. Santa and Mrs Claus arrived by motorcycle with her elf.

What this place does for women is a great thing - I want to start with that. Everybody has told me for some time to bring donatable clothing to them and today, I finally did, at about 2 pm. For us, this is a bit out of the way but not way out - I saw airport rd & thought it was out by the airport. I thought wrong. It's like 2 miles out of downtown. There was 1 buggy for donatables, and it was 3/4 full with a lady filling it up. I brought 3 - 55 gallon drum liners of clothes, so I hit the "call" button to ask for something else as the bags were 50lbs+. The girl who came out was sweet & prompt, but a little forethought on the area might go a long way for those at a higher managerial spot. No joke, my bags were heavy and I should've split into 5 or 6, but the lot is narrow & there is no parallel drop off spot to keep from lugging donations across the lot. All in all, it was a positive experience, but whoever runs this place should maybe think of a drive-through drop spot that is capable of handling more than a single hatch back can carry...

A place that is suppose to help more like the shelter from hell. The empty promises to help, the horrible attitudes from staff, the expired food being served, and the bare minimum to no help.... this place gave me the blues and worse depression that when I first came in. There was a big argument about people keeping other peoples children and not coming back on time to pick them up. Which is understandable but for a fight almost breaking out, did not make me and my children feel safe. Not me, but others. I was then harassed daily about letting my 6 and 9 year old at the time sit in the living room while i went to the restroom or to grab something out of the room. Even if I had someone I trusted look after them for a few minutes staff would hound you about keeping your children with you at all times. And of course you will grow close to other women there so needless to say there will be people that come together because they can find kindness and trust in each other. The second week of being there we were uprooted from our room with no notice or explanation and when asked about it, kept getting attitude and the run around about why they did it. They moved us to a room where there was mold in the bathroom and the vents over the bunk beds where my children slept. There were roaches in the rooms and the kitchen area. Someone had used the restroom and didn't flush the toilet, the shower had so much black mold on the ceiling and in the shower, the shower curtain was falling apart. When I addressed the situation with one of the RA's. she said there was nothing she could do about it and I had to clean it up. They say they are supposed to be watching the cameras but there are under age teens outside smoking and smoking weed in the room in the back building. They didn't even notice that one lady was arrested and in jail for 3 days. They would call her on the P.A. system but never realized she was gone. Peoples personal belongings and food began to come up missing but staff turned a blind eye when people complained. But when the "right" person complained then it becomes a problem. I went and complained to a board member about everything that was going on (have messages to prove it) she told me( a mother with 2 children and no where to go and i quote "this may not be the place for you") instead of addressing the problems. If this is a place where my children and I are suppose to feel safe, we sure didn't feel the safety. We went into the shelter December 23 right before the holidays which was fine but they only give you 30 days to get a job and apartment to get yourself together pretty much, but lets be honest coming in during holiday season only having 30 days isn't enough. They promise they can help you but all they give you is an overwhelming list after list telling you to call here or there but nothing was open or accepting people. They don't take you out of Conroe for interviews or other appointments. They always make up an excuse or they don't provide you with bus passes to get around. Case management either doesn't give you resources at the beginning of your stay or waits until its to late to give you more beneficial resources or just doesn't give you the same resources as others. Meaning we have to socialize or communicate with other women to get better resources. In the third week of being here is when everything just really got out of control for me. Trying to do what I could under the circumstances, I wasn't granted a second extension until I said forget it Ill just go back to where I was born where my abusers were because my back was against the wall and I wasn't given the proper help. When I came here, I kept being reassured I would get the help I needed but that wasn't the case. Needless to say i left and all of the jobs I applied for have been calling so now I have all these missed opportunities because the place that was suppose to help didn't. And there is so much more but I cant even fit it in this review.
