My Grandparents said during WWII The Salvation Army was the only one out there to help people. Really help people. Goodwill didn't help people, but was a money making organization. So I was to remember this, and help out the Salvation Army whenever I could, and remind others what they have done. When no one else was there willing to help, there was the Salvation Army. So thank you. That was years before I was born, but I never forgot. I want to pay them back, or pay it forward, to help those who helped those truly in need. This was the only organization that didn't have an agenda but to be there when people needed help.

My first time ever and the staff assured me that I can do this! For my participation in my life, goals and basic housekeeping and dinner I get a bed and daily showers. I'm still working on work and trying for health but I'm not doing it all blindly and alone. They've shared so much insight, resources and if one is ready to receive it, it can be extremely helpful. They also implement tough "love" as well. Do not expect to be babied, not their jobs. Do what is expected and you should be good. Do not do like me and try to do it without guidance, it's so much more difficult.

Unfortunately, I had to change my review from a 5 star rating to a 1 star rating because while I was there we had a meeting with everyone in the shelter and staff and it was announced that if we are in a facility such as jail or a mental hospital that they will hold your bed. I did communicate with them that I was going in the psych hospital and that I was in the hospital, as a result when I came back they refused to let me in the shelter. There were lies and half truths told about me that were untrue and I was discriminated against for having mental illness. When I was in the hospital the last time they held my bed for me so it's bs that they won't hold my bed because I was hospitalized.

Was told of I left for work on the weekend I could not return for 30 days.
