“A mind is a Terrible thing to waste” was a slogan designed to encourage people to get a higher education and is so true for everyone to think about. Our actions and happiness is controlled by how we think and what we think about.
Napoleon Hill learned this and that is why he wrote the book “Think and Grow Rich.” It wasn’t work really hard or Work till you drop, but THINK and Grow Rich. Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” In life and business one needs to have the right mindset and the integrity to fulfill their dreams and goals. God brought this to my mind this morning because my mind and thinking hasn’t been what it used to be or needs to be and He encouraged me to think about it and write this piece. As a Christian, we need to focus on Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” Do I think about things Christ would or wants me to? Am I happy about what I think, and focus my attention on? Do I have Happiness and peace about my life and decisions, if not, how can I get that? Everything starts with trusting and leaning on God!! Philippians 4:6-7 states “ do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Man, do I need my heart and mind guarded, what about you? Finally, Abraham Lincoln stated: “Folks are usually as happy as they make up their minds to be.” I don’t know about you, but my happiness doesn’t stay every day or even every hour, so what do we do? Well, it will take work on our part and Romans 12:1-2 shows us how to renew and guard our minds: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” It seems like, part of God’s will, is for us to renew our minds on a daily basis to be able to learn His perfect will for our lives. It is going to take work on our part to keep a right mindset, are you willing to put in the work? I really feel like God is working on me and He wouldn’t let me do anything else today until I renewed my mind and shared this with you all. I hope this helps and God Bless, Jim Dinaso
